This research group uses language to analyse the relationship of mutual influence between this and the cultural and social aspects that are inherent in any linguistic practice.
Three sub-projects are currently in progress:
- (1) analysis of 19th-century travel accounts written by English travellers in Portugal and Portuguese travellers in Great Britain;
- (2) analysis of the relationship between discourse, communication and business, through the study of business meetings with a view to identifying the discursive and communicational strategies used by the participants;
- (3) post-colonial discourses and emerging identity in former Portuguese and British territories.
